- Don't have pictures for every place I went,
- Don't have all the historical events need to know
- Don't have all the names of the places went
Beause truthfully I don't have much interest on the place, went because it is free as I went there with cousin and her family. But it was still, a good eye opener.
And also the schedule given from the travel agent was messed up, so a few places weren't in the list. Places in the same area weren't specifically listed out too.
Actually departed from KL on the 26th, but only arrived at 2.30 am at Beijing the next day, so 27th is officially day one.
On le plane. iPhone 5 front camera has improvement, yay :D
Quite lucky that the fight wasn't packed, so occupied a whole row just to sleep like a boss.
Unlike other tours which has 89765678765456789 people cramped on the bus there were only 6 people in this trip O_O there was another family of 3, which was very good actually. Skip the long wait of going to toilets/waiting for everyone to gather at a certain place. :D And less noise weeeee.
Tour guide was pretty considerate and let us start our journey at 11. Maybe it is a waste of precious time since we are at the new place but the energy level matters because you wouldn't enjoy your day feeling drained.
Woke up at 8 something because the hotel restaurant ( they don't have a dining area in the hotel itself) which I was supposed to have breakfast closes at 9. It is located at the same place as the hotel, a distance of few steps.
OOTD: beanie -UNIQLO inner fleece - UNIQLO fleece jacket - UNIQLO scarf - United Colours of Benetton jeans - Levis boots - unknown .
The amount of UNIQLO clothing is too damn high in this next few days. But hey I gotta say they are very good and look fashionable! Much love <3
Food was HORRIBLE. The bread served does not taste or even feels like bread, it is tasteless, flaky, hard and dry. Other servings were either COMPLETELY tasteless or have too much of one particular flavour and flat overall. The only serving which was edible and pretty okay was fried rice.
Cunning assholes put up a vending machine selling HALF a cup of milk tea/coffee/orange juice at 10RMB. (that is like RM5) which actually doesn't require you to put in coins to get your drink. Weird that they serve hot orange juice x.x
Since we got up early, aunt decided to walk around and explore the street outside the hotel.
My goodness the air there is fucking polluted even though there aren't many cars, and half of the road users at that area use bikes. There were also many stray dogs, which explains dog turd scattered everywhere with litter. Speaking of dogs, the dogs there have VERY short legs O_O Saw a Labrador with legs (and a tail) of a Pomeranian wtf. Also a Shaggy dog with Pom's legs. I wonder why. O_O
Oh, forgot to tell you that I wore like the above picture out for 20 mins. -_- I thought it wasn't that cold until suddenly my nerves start working again and I was like OMFGSDHSADJSDSOQ. -_-
Went to a restaurant for lunch before heading to our first stop.
Here will be a review on the dishes. This will be the only post which has meal pictures because I have been eating the same thing most of the time for the past few days.
Glass noodles, have this strong vegetable taste x.x maybe it's just me, but the texture of the noodles are strange :X feels like chomping on bean sprouts instead x.x
Some sweet and sour pork dish + vinegar and herbs(??). Initially liked the dish a lot but a side of my tongue went sour and I have no idea what I ate from the dish :(
Meat dumplings, has a slightly poor quality of taste compared to Din Tai Feng. The pricing, DUH. I cannot comprehend why the food is so bloody cheap there. It is beyond unbelievable that all the dishes displayed above for 6 people to share with costs LESS than 20 bucks. Okay I have to stop here as thoughts of having fake food which contains odd ingredients pop up in my mind omfg. Well, IT IS CHINA. DON'T BLAME ME.
Vegetable dishes I didn't try but just to show you a complete set of lunch pictures.
Headed to the national theater just to take pictures. From there walked to Tiananmen Square, the 3rd largest city square in the world.
National theater. |
A monument dedicated for the national heroes.
National Museum of China on the east side of the square. Thankfully didn't have to go there.
Outside the Forbidden City.
Great hall of people.
Crossed the road to get to Forbidden City (also commonly known as Gugong), which was the old Chinese imperial palace. I am not going to elaborate on the many walls, gates and halls inside because there were TOO many. According to our tour guide it was believed that there were 9990 freaking halls in total inside before they were damaged/demolished in any way. O_O They have a hall for ANY reason, eg: a hall for the 1st queen, a hall for married daughters for annual reunions, and also, a hall just for sex. <.<
Still a beautiful place to have a look. :)
Beijing hasn't snowed for a long time but when I got there ice and snow residues are everywhere :O
But it does add a special effect on photos right? :D
Oh yes it does. So worth it taking the cold there. On the first day was -11degree celcius ^__^
After finish touring around the palace headed to the second destination: Jingshan park.
Then followed by Beihai Park.
It is said that the emperor and empress like to go there for a walk if they are not lazy. If they are there is already a tiny park in the palace for them to walk around in.
There is a temple, but we need to climb the hill. Everyone told the guide is not necessary because it is too cold haha.
The lake located in the park was completely frozen! Here people took the opportunity to ice skate, and also explore the lake with skiing boats (whatever is that) Many people also romantically walked across the ice to another path :D
Other picturesque parts of the park:
Stepping on ice :D was slippery and cool.
The last stop was going for a acrobatic show located in a cinema + theater. If you think that it is gonna be all about gymnast throwing bowling bottles around on a one wheeled bike with blaring chinese opera THEN YOU ARE WRONG.
The association has revolutionized acrobats for the Beijing Olympics 2008. They added things you wouldn't think of. Belly dancing, extremely flexible yoga, and stunts. You will definitely be amazed.. unless you have watched them on TV like me. :X I fell asleep during the show as I watched the stunts before (and even more exciting ones) on taiwanese entertainment show diamond club.
This concludes day one.
